La Setty(real name-Luis Colon)

Interview By Benn Robinson

So La setty How did you get inspired to get into the rap business?
Is there a specific artist that you have to listen to for you to get motivation?

La Setty: Well basically It all began when I was exposed to hip-hop/reggaeton at the age of 10.
but I never really developed a passion for It, it was all fun & games. when I started to freestyle battle against my peers in school and i noticed that i did have that possible potential, because i never really was good at anything not even academically. As I grew to a mature man reflecting about my dream, which was rapping.
I mean even my brother knew what he wanted from the start. However as I got older and was inspired by movies such as "8mile" & "Get rich or die tryin" i then decided to take this hobby to a dream. By investing money for my studio.

Also what artist do i listen to get motivation?

La Setty: I would have to say Drake no one else, I never really admired any other artist until he appeared in the Hip-Hop industry. I'm feeling his material and the way he's so genuine to the art of music. Which I could relate to in many ways because he pretty much influenced the way i changed my style.

How was your childhood? Do you consider it a good one or a bad one?

La setty: wow! .... I was a trouble maker growing up as a child, no one really interacted with me because I was one of those who would seek attention by trash talking. Other than that coming from a house hold full of love and discipline, everything was cool.

How often do you travel?where have you traveled to?

La Setty: How often do I travel? umm, I would say every holiday or every summer. I've traveled to New York,New Jersey, Philly, Virginia, Florida, California, Vegas, Fresno, Dominican Rep, etc. I just love traveling.

what age range are you trying to target with your music?

La Setty: There's not really a specific demographic group of people that I'm trying to target. I would say I just try to create music where everyone can relate to what I'm saying, but in the same time stay true to myself you know.

If you were to classify your music what would you classify it as? would you classify it as a chill layback type of music or romance? or your trying to tackle all the things at the same time?

La Setty: Well to say that my music is classified then i guess that would retain me from saying that I'm versatile from the rest right? so yea basically I'm not trying to "tackle" all the things at the same time, I'm just in a point where as an artist I feel the need to experiment with different types of songs.

what does your family think of you being a professional rapper?
Do they approve or disapprove?

La Setty: I gotta say when I first told my family i wanted to be a rapper, they took it as a joke. Especially my mom she thought i was losing it, (laughs) and that i was not going to do well in school and that it was just a distraction.
Then I proved her wrong and ever since she saw the passion I had for it, she began to be more supportive.

Do you have any other plans, as far as creating a clothing line?

La Setty: clothing line?? i don't think so, I'm just devoted to one or to two things at the moment, and thats school, and music. Furthermore I'am interested in perusing that area, but later in the future though.

How do you think of the people who dislike your music, a.k.a the "haters"?

La Setty: Haters, It doesn't alarm me to be honest, every where you go there will always be an obstacle to bring you down. On the contrary you just have to overcome it and do you, and believe in yourself. Also you need to be prepared for constructive criticism whether if its good or bad.

Do you have a girlfriend right now or are you just enjoying the single life?
what do you look for in a female?

La Setty: (laughs) no, no girl friend right know just having a good time being young. Nothing serious with anyone you know, I'm at a place where I cant afford to have a relationship with some one knowing I'm not going to be fully committed. Like its not that I'd rather not but, do to the things I have going on in my life right know, with music and all I just cant.

La Setty: what i seek in a female is some one down to earth who i can have a good time with, no arguments, jealousy, trust issues, none of that. Oh and perhaps be a good cook too, i hope thats not too much to ask for. (laughs)
